KPT to achieve 1 million TEUs containers handling mark

The Karachi Port will witness a record container handling during the current year, touching one million TEUs (Twenty Equivalent Units) mark, by Thursday (May 25).
Until April, Karachi Port handled 838 container vessels, including 227 bulk cargo vessels, 309 general cargo ships and 298 oil tankers (liquid cargo), and the total number of vessels stood at 1,672 ships. The containerised cargo handling also included the handling of 852 TUEs of the transhipment containers.
Total dry cargo imports and exports, according to KPT this year till April was 13.663 million tonnes and 4.336 million tonnes respectively.-PR
