District Faisalabad Nazim Rana Zahid Tousif said on Tuesday that entire machinery of local as well as the provincial government was in the field to tackle the water contamination crisis in parts of Faisalabad city.
Speaking in a PTV programme, he said that round the clock efforts were being made to replace faulty pipelines on one hand and on the other appropriate treatment was given to the affected people.
He said the capacity in the government hospitals had been expanded while a school converted into emergency hospital in the affected area.
Besides, he said that mobile dispensaries equipped with two doctors, paramedics and necessary medicines were present in the area to assist the affected people.
He hoped that very soon the situation would be under control.
A mass campaign has also been launched in the area to educate the people in adopting protective measures, he said adding that announcements in that connection were being made through the mosques.
He said a fleet of 10 to 12 water tankers was working round the clock to provide clean water in the affected area.
To a question, he said the Wasa officials responsible for the situation would be dealt with iron hand.
