Pakistan is making hectic efforts to increase its share in the global trade, which can easily be boosted with the help of diplomats. The Consumer Trades Association Chairman, Muhammad Haroon Agar, while talking to foreign traders here on Thursday said the role of diplomats was very significant in increasing the trade ties with other countries.
He said the traders had to advance practical proposals to increase trade with different countries and exert pressure on their respective government to get those proposals through for early implementation. He said that Pakistan needed to keep in mind the changing scenario of the world politics and trade besides taking into account the arising challenges in this regard while drafting its trade and export policies.
Haroon Agar said that the developing countries should extend their support to each other for the promotion of trade among themselves. He added that the regional bodies and blocks could play a significant role in such promotion.
He said the development of deep sea port at Gwadar would go a long way in improving the trade ties with other countries as Pakistan due to its strategic geographical location can serve as gateway to land logged neighbouring countries and central Asia.
The Gwadar port with all its road link-ups would play an important role in accelerating the economic activity at national and regional level, he added.
