The project of construction of interchange at Harbanspura Canal Crossing has been approved by the Planning and Development Department, which would cost Rs 1,704.427 million.
Planning and Development Board Chairman Salman Ghani disclosed this here on Thursday. He said that the proposed interchange was a part of Lahore Ring Road Project and was located at the intersection of Canal Road and Ring Road at Harbanspura.
He said that construction of the said interchange would provide multi-grade facilities like underpasses for uninterrupted flow of traffic on Canal Road, intersection for turning movements and a flyover accommodating the Ring Road. The flyover would also pass over railway tracks at Hurbanspura Railway Station, he added.
Salman said that the project would be completed by June 2007, by C&W department. "The project includes construction of two flyovers, one bridge each over canal and railway tracks, three bridges for pedestrians and underpasses along the canal road," he added.
