The Ministry of Finance has approved an amount of Rs 233.236 million for the Women Development Ministry's 14 on going development projects for the fiscal year 2006-07.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that total estimated cost of the 14 projects was Rs 862.175 million. Total estimated cost of Gender Reform Action Plan (GRAP) was Rs 418.563 million whereas an amount of Rs 104.216 million had been approved, they added.
They said that an amount of Rs 50.065 million had been approved for setting up crisis centers for women in districts of Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Mianwali, Kohat, Vehari, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Mirwala, Hyderabad, Nawab Shah, Sibi, Abbottabad and Mirpur (AJK).
The sources said that an amount of Rs 16 million was approved for national fund for advancement of rural women, supporting skills and micro enterprises development among Gwadar women by Khushali Bank, 'Patti Development Project, Chitral (AKRSP), Economic Empowerment of Rural women by First Women Bank. The total estimated cost of the project was Rs 110.770 million, they added.
They said that an amount of Rs 19 million was approved for the community campaign to prevent violence against women while the total estimated cost of the project was Rs 38 million.
Total estimated cost for the establishment of daycare center in MoWD was Rs 0.575 million and Rs 1.5 million was the budgetary allocation for mother and child health center at village Godho Tehsil, Taxila, the sources added.
The total estimated cost for National Plan of Action for Women was Rs 31.992 million whereas Rs 10 million had been allocated for the next financial year, they maintained. They said that total estimated amount for Cedaw follow-up and implementation was Rs 26.633 million, while an amount of Rs 8 million was approved.
They said that Rs 9.310 million were approved for the Pilot project of district resource centers for women whereas, estimated cost of the project was Rs 23.512 million.
The project was started in the cities of Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sargodha, Multan, Karachi, Sukkur, Quetta, Jafferabad, Peshawar, Hangu, Mardan and Dir. They said that total estimated cost of 'IT training for elected lady representatives' was Rs 15.410 million and an amount of Rs 3.763 million was approved for the next financial year.
They sources said that total estimated cost of Family Protection and Rehabilitation Centre was Rs 19.560 million while the approved budgetary allocation for the centre is Rs3.382 million.
They said that Rs 4 million had been allocated for Planning and Monitoring Cell and the total estimated cost was Rs 9.171 million.
They said that total estimated cost for establishment of women welfare center in Orakzai Agency, Fata was Rs11.375 million while the allocated amount for upcoming budget is Rs 2.518 million.
