Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) has said that Pakistan needed brave, intelligent, honest and brilliant statesman like late General Attiqur Rehman to bring desired changes in the society.
While addressing the launching ceremony of a book titled "Back to the Pavilion" written by late General Attiqur Rehman here on Wednesday, Khalid appreciated the services of late General for the defence of the country in his capacity as army officer and for the uplift of the society as Punjab Governor.
He said that autobiography of late depicted that he was a man who was equally adept at the use of the pen as well as the sword. The late General proved himself as an efficient administrator after being appointed as Governor and Martial Law Administrator.
He said the book reflected the ability of author to hold and pronounce upon opinions unacceptable to authority. Bureaucrats, army officials, and diplomats besides Ikram Sehgal, Shaharyar M Khan, Nasira Javed Iqbal and Shaheen Attiqur Rehman attended the function.
