French cereals office ONIC said on Monday the volume of grain offered into intervention stores now stood at 600,352 tonnes, up 18,800 on last week. The total comprised 323,097 tonnes of wheat and 277,255 tonnes of barley, ONIC said. The volume of wheat offered fell by 6,300 tonnes from last week, while barley rose by 25,100 tonnes, the data showed.
The volume of offers can fall if grain does not meet intervention standards or if offers are withdrawn by farmers. The European Union intervention season opened on November 1 and closes at the end of May. At the end of the last intervention season, France had around 2.27 million tonnes of wheat, 233,000 tonnes of barley and 67,500 tonnes of maize in its grain stores.
