A minor girl was killed and eight other members of her family were seriously injured when some unknown miscreants hurled a hand grenade into their home at Mach some 70 km off the provincial capital.
The head of the family, Abdul Rehman told the visiting journalists that at least ten people, including some guests were sitting in the yard of the house on Monday night at around 8 pm, waiting for the dinner when they heard a metallic sound, followed by a severe explosion. As a result, one minor girl died on the spot while eight other members of the family suffered serious injuries.
The injured, including four women and three men were rushed to Quetta hospital late night for treatment. Their condition is stated to be serious but out of danger.
Abdul Rehman told journalists that a week back some unknown persons had hurled grenade at their residence which damaged the adjacent house.
He said the miscreants had thrown grenades at more than ten houses for the last few months, which had created panic and insecurity among them.
He told that he was a sweet merchant and had no enmity with anyone and had been living there for the last several years.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of Balochistan Government, Raziq Bugti has said that the government would deal with the miscreants and their accomplices with an iron hand.
Talking to newsmen after the grenade attack, he said the government had succeeded in maintaining its writ in Balochistan and was taking further steps to ensure security of lives and properties of the people in different parts of the province including Mach (Bolan).
He said that law enforcing agencies had arrested a suspect from Mach and efforts were being made to catch the real culprits.
The spokesman said that absconders who had left Dera Bugti and Kohlu were behind the sabotage acts.
