Punjab University vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood on Tuesday inaugurated four-day workshop on 'Multilingual Library and Information Management System' (MLIMS) in the University main Library.
Speaking on the occasion, Arshad said: "It is necessary that libraries should play their role to foster reading habit and forge the link between people and basic literary skills. MLIMS is a unique product developed by IT Centre of Punjab University to cope with the new challenges raised by IT, scalable to any size with advanced multi-tier distributed design, centralised software and configuration management of all desktop clients in the network and easy Windows Wizards for all system administration functions", he added.
PU Library is not only the biggest information resource centre in Pakistan but also has a unique identity all over the world for its rare oriental collection, he maintained.
