Pakistan Peoples Party, Women Wing Punjab President Begum Beelum Hasnain MNA has said PPP has decided to celebrate the birthday of Benazir Bhutto with great fervour and also chalked out programme in this regard and congratulated Benazir on the signing of Charter of Democracy in London on May 14 and termed it as a historic event after the 1973 Constitution.
Talking to newsmen on phone she vehemently condemned the confiscation of computers and writing material in violation of court orders from imprisoned PPP leader Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and PML-N leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi. She said that soon after the signing of the Charter of Democracy between the leaders of two mainstream political parties in London the regime withdrew facilities allowed to Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and Makhdoom Javed Hashmi acting President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as petty revenge against the signing of the charter.
She condemned initiating cases against Baloch leaders. She said the involvement of senator Shahid Bugti and former senator Amanullah Kanrani in fabricated cases over the past two days is condemnable.
"The PML government has continuously been using the state apparatus to bring political pressure on the opposition," She added. She said: "The rulers cannot resolve the issue. 90 percent areas are without electricity while 99 percent people do not have access to clean drinking water.
Educational institutions are in far-flung areas where a poor man cannot send his children, while the educated youth do not get jobs.
Only a few health centres exist, and there is no road network," he said, while adding that the present government instead of bringing Balochistan in close liaison with other provinces, had distanced the Balochis by declaring them traitors, and launching military attacks against them.
She further said the government continues to use National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as its arm to achieve its political agenda of floor crossing and demeaning the political leadership in the opposition.
Rabbani said the Balochistan problem is political and can only be settled through a dialogue, and the use of state forces has and will aggravate the situation further.
"The involvement of members of parliament in false and fabricated cases is a step full of severe consequences. She said it is demanded that the names of these two parliamentarians from the said FIR be removed immediately. She maintained that if the present assemblies decided to re-elect General Pervez Musharraf as president, the opposition parties would jointly decide, including resignation from the assemblies.
