A 10-member Iranian delegation has shown keen interest to develop educational collaboration with the GC University, Lahore.
Led by the daughter-in-law of the spiritual leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Begum Dr Taba Tabayee, the delegation visited the Persian department of the GC University and exchanged views pertaining to educational collaboration between the Iranian universities with the GCU, Lahore.
Dr Taba Tabai said: "we shall welcome students from Pakistan desirous to get admission to Ph.D. courses at the Imam Khomeini University, Iran." She also appreciated the collection of Persian books placed in the library of the Persian department.
GC University Registrar Professor Dr Zaheer Ahmed Siddiqi said that Iranian culture has greater affect on our part of the world and the Sufis and saints who came from Iran played pivotal role in the propagation and promotion of Islamic teachings.
Chairperson, Department of Persian, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Saqib apprised the delegation about the Persian language and literature programmes being conducted by the Persian department of the varsity.
"We are initiating a 3-month programme soon to help students make aware of the Iranian literature and culture. We want to develop strong academic linkages with the Iranian universities and we will welcome students from Iran to GC University, Lahore who want to acquire education from here," said Director Academic Links of GCU, Iram Sohail.
