Cocoa arrivals at ports in Ivory Coast reached 1,156,407 tonnes between October 1 and May 28, according to an estimate by major exporters on Friday. That compared with 1,118,421 tonnes delivered to ports at the same period in the 2004/05 season, industry data showed.
The figures showed that 26,293 tonnes arrived at ports between May 22 and 28. "I think volumes will remain around 25-30,000 tonnes (per week) during almost all of June, but then it will slow down," a buyer for a major international exporter working in the south-west of the country told Reuters by telephone.
He added that beans were now smaller than at the beginning of the harvest which indicated that the peak arrival period in April-September mid crop arrivals would end in the next few weeks.
