Ericsson Pakistan has been supporting the telecommunications industry of Pakistan for over 44 years, and has strong local knowledge and a well-established network.
On behalf of the entire staff and stakeholders of Ericsson, I would like to extend my gratitude for the Telecom excellence award for market leadership. This award rightly validates and applauds the extensive work Ericsson has been doing in Pakistan. Ericsson has been a pioneer of telecommunications in Pakistan, with approximately 44 years of market experience, services and research under its belt.
The company has literally grown with the country and now stands at a higher ground from where it continues to excel and challenge its peers. Ericsson has been actively present in Pakistan since 1962 as a leading telecom supplier. Today, Ericsson is the only telecom supplier to have 16 years of experience in supplying, installing, commissioning and maintaining mobile networks across Pakistan.
The well earned Telecom Excellence Award in Market Leadership, bestowed today upon Ericsson by FPCCI, takes us back in time to our inception days and our contributions to the Telecom Industry of Pakistan. We are proud to share that the first international gateway and one of the largest in the country was provided by Ericsson for the incumbent fixed line provider PTCL in 1983. Furthermore, in 1990, Ericsson became the first company in Pakistan to introduce mobile telephony, when the first mobile subscriber was signed on and the first mobile phone call in Pakistan was made on an Ericsson system.
Since its inception, Ericsson Pakistan has implemented its vision and commitment to lead the market. Today we are well on our way in securing that vision as we are currently managing the operation and maintenance of the third largest network in Pakistan, launched in 2005. The project marks the largest mobile network roll out project of its kind in Pakistan.
Ericsson will continue to grow and maintain its leadership position by constantly and diligently fulfilling its commitments to existing customers, partners, stakeholders and the community we operate in.
Ericsson is committed to accelerate Telecom growth in Pakistan. Ericsson contributions to the success and growth of the Telecom Industry of Pakistan will only accelerate and build stronger ties as demonstrated in the past and will continue in the future.
