Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that investigations has been started into suicide bomb attack on army convoy in Bakakhel, FR Bannu and the elements involved in the conspiracy would be unveiled.
Talking to newsmen here at Peoples House on Saturday, the Minister while expressing remorse over the tragic incident said such incidents amounted to sabotaging the peace efforts in tribal region. The government is determined to establish peace in the tribal areas and it would not bow through such tactics.
He questioned as to where it is written that killing own people is Jehad and said this was being done under an engineered conspiracy to frustrate peace efforts in Fata initiated by the government.
Describing suicide bombing as an inhuman and cruel act, the Interior Minister said President Musharraf for the first time appointed a tribesman as Governor of the province keeping in view the demand of the tribal people. Therefore, tribesmen are bound to co-operate with the new Governor in establishing lasting peace in tribal areas.
Sherpao said the occurrence of violent incidents fuelled hatred and revulsion in the region therefore, patriotic elements in Fata should play their due role in curbing the activities of the terrorists.
