Balochistan Governor Awais Ahmed on Saturday said the government is committed to resolving Balochistan issue through political means.
Talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) here, he said the government had to take action against the miscreants in Dera Bugti and Kohlu districts when their subversive activities posed a serious threat to peace and tranquillity in the province. Awais Ahmed, however, expressed the confidence that they will soon be persuaded to play their role in the development of the province.
On the occasion, the governor conceded that the province had not received its due share of development in the past due to which majority of its population was deprived of civic amenities. However, the present government led by President Musharraf made sincere efforts to remove prevailing sense of deprivation among the people by launching development projects worth billions of rupees, he said, and added the completion of these schemes will enable the people to lead a prosperous life.
Awais Ahmed said the government positive policies have laid tremendous impact on the lives of the people of middle class who are coming forward in every field of life. Referring to law and order situation, the governor said that overall law and order situation in the province is satisfactory except two and a half tehsils. The situation in these tehsils will soon be improved, as the majority of the people are in favour of development and dislikes violence, he added.
Awais Ahmed said the miscreants, who are very small in number, are opposing development in their areas to safeguard their own vested interests.
