The government expects to receive financial assistance of about Rs 239.496 billion (including Rs 239.316 billion plan and non-plan development loans) from various countries and donor agencies during the next fiscal year 2006-07 to bridge the incomes and expenses gap.
According to the break-up, development aid comprises planned resources of Rs 239.308 billion and non-planned resources of Rs 7.858 million, while non-development aid is Rs 180 million. After presentation of federal budget for FY 2006-07, these 'Estimates of Foreign Assistance' were made available here on Monday.
Of the planned resources, Rs 82.166 billion project aid is expected, and among it is federal projects aid of Rs 76.386 billion; commodity aid (non-food) Rs 96.038 billion; food aid grant Rs 605 million and other aid of Rs 60.50 billion.
Of the development aid, non-planned resources are Rs 7.858 million, which totally comprise grants for private sectors.
However, 'Estimates of Foreign Assistance' shows that among all donor agencies and countries, the World Bank is expected to provide Rs 65.129 billion from its International Bank for Reconstruction and from Development (IBRD) Rs1.479 billion, and from its concessional arm International Development Association (IDA) Rs 63.65 billion.
After World Bank, the government expects Rs 61.857 billion from Asian Development Bank (ADB) including Rs 60.041 billion loans and Rs 1.815 billion grants. The government also anticipates Rs 35.343 billion from Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and Rs 30.25 billion would be arranged through floating global bonds.
However, among all the donor countries, the United States of America (USA) is the main lending country which is expected to provide Rs 12.808 billion grants, followed by China, with Rs7.874 billion (Rs 7.832 billion loans and Rs 42 million grants). Japan is expected to provide Rs 5.86 billion. Besides, from United Kingdom (UK) the government expects Rs 4.294 billion grants.
