Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Tuesday said Pakistan wanted to resolve the core issue of Kashmir according to the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiris and acceptable to Pakistan and India.
Talking to newsmen here at the Prime Minister House, he said Pakistan and India have been engaged in confidence building measures and talks at various levels are going on.
He said recently Secretary Interior and then Secretary Culture of both the countries held meetings and even a number of prisoners were released following these talks. Shaukat said, "Now there is need to go towards dispute resolution" with a view to find an acceptable solution to the Kashmir dispute.
He said Pakistan has already given the proposals of demilitarisation and self-rule in Kashmir and now there is a need to show progress on these suggestions.
The Prime Minister said Kashmir issue has to be resolved through dialogue process according to the aspirations and wishes of Kashmiris and added that the solution should be acceptable to the three stakeholders, Pakistan, India and Kashmiris.
