The government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a cellular service-providing company to extend communication services to remote areas.
The MoU, in this regard, was signed between Pakistan Post and Ufone the other day to launch a programme "Reaching the Unbearable". Pakistan Post Chairman Zia-ur-Rehman and Ufone President Babar Khan inked the memorandum in presence of the Communication Minister Shamim Siddiqui. The agreement would help in providing total communication solutions, including wireless and landlines to customers living in urban and rural areas.
The services will be provided to customers at post offices as well as franchised post offices. Ufone connections and scratch cards will also be offered to consumers at their doorsteps by the Pakistan Post.
The Ufone as a solution will provide special packages to the Pakistan Post employees in order to meet their communication needs in the fast moving pace. Both organisations will use each others platforms to introduce attractive consumer promotions and strategic alliances.
Under the agreement, the Ufone will help the Pakistan Post in providing technological support to track and trace their mail express and remittances through automated data collection in the field as well as training and development of staff members. Speaking on the signing ceremony, Shamim Siddiqui said people would be greatly benefited due to strategic alliances between the two great companies.
The Ufone chief said they have always taken lead in providing state-of-the-art cellular solutions, adding his organisation was proud of being associated with the Pakistan Post in providing their sales force with an additional income to improve their quality of life.
The Pakistan Post chief also expressed his views and said the organisation is known for providing quality services to its customers and they intend to build upon this reputation by offering unique services to provide customers freedom to communicate.
