File Tracking System, aimed at materialising dream of paperless office, would be uploaded within 15 to 20 days on Internet and installed first at the office of Sindh Chief Secretary, said Advisor to Chief Minister for Environment, Alternative Energy & Information Technology (IT) Noman Saigal addressing a press conference here on Thursday.
He said that the project of provincial database system to frame policies of government of Sindh is also in the pipeline. He said that 23 new highly educated and trained EDOs (IT) would replace untrained EDOs soon and for this purpose applications had been invited from IT experts and students.
"Forty IT awareness centres will be made functional within next 15 days out of total 400 planned ones, while 20 IT awareness centres are already working, smoothly," he said. He said that the security procedures of the Governor House had been designed by computer experts, as all security set up in future would be computerised.
The IT advisor said that 1,600 new posts would be filled as a result of commencing IT projects but he mentioned that most of them would be on contract basis. Besides this 6,000 vacancies will be created in private sector in next six months, he added.
He said that initial phases of e-government pilot project for Sindh government and training of provincial employees' projects had been accomplished. He maintained that 300 call centres would be established to train youth. They will create 1,000 job opportunities for IT experts.
Provincial advisor said that an IT university had been planned in Nawabshah with financial and technical assistance of Korean firm Hyundai and for this purpose land had already been sought.
Tenders for e-police system worth Rs 600 million is also under process and in this context only competent organisation having experience of such kind of projects would be selected, he said adding, "Crime monitoring and detection system, traffic management system and disaster management system plans are also in the pipeline that would help the related authorities a lot to cope with these problems.
