A reputed Malaysian company LGB Group has shown interest in solid waste management in Karachi. The company is already working on Solid Waste Management in China, Indonesia, Singapore and UAE.
A representative delegation of the company met Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal at his office here on Friday and gave a briefing on Solid Waste Management system.
It was informed that the company possesses expertise in all stages of solid waste management - from lifting of garbage from homes to its dumping at landfill site.
Nazim Karachi informed that some 8,000 tons of garbage is generated in Karachi daily which is not wholly shifted to landfill site which is necessary to keep the city clean.
He said solid waste management has been privatised in all 18 towns, but it still needs improvement. He said CDGK is ready to provide all facilities to foreign firms intending to take over the system.
