The Provincial Minister for Education, Mian Imran Masood, has said that Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has taken the lead by starting foreign language courses, as this would on the one hand help build the image of the country while boost the business and economic activities, on the other.
LCCI President Mian Shafqat Ali, Vice President Aftab Ahmad Vohra and Director Research and Development Ghalib Ata also spoke on the occasion and threw light on various aspects of foreign languages.
The minister, who spoke at length on a number of issues, also assured the LCCI office-bearers of his full support in their endeavor to build the soft image of the country.
He said that Punjab government was making serious and sincere efforts for attracting foreign investment in the country and was evolving a strategy to give special status to the potential foreign investors to send right signals to outside world.
Talking about the budget, the minister said that the upcoming Punjab budget would be pro-poor and business-friendly as no new tax is being imposed. It may be mentioned that the LCCI has started five language courses, including Japanese, French, Chinese, Business English and Arabic from Monday.
LCCI President Mian Shafqat Ali said that literacy in a foreign language is a tool that enables a person to research markets, sell products, and develop business relations with foreign community and despite impressive export performance, Pakistan's exports are highly concentrated in a few items and this is only because of language barriers, coming in the way of businessmen.
