An extensive programme has been launched by Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) to constantly upgrade and elevate the skills of its instructors and teaching staff through refresher courses deployed in its vast network of vocational training institutes (VTIs) across the province.
Two week long courses organised by the PVTC Teacher Training Department concluded last week, which were attended by the institutes' principals and vice-principals, as well as administration and accounts officers from all over the Punjab.
The courses designed to improve managerial competence, were attended by over 40 participants, while the training was conducted by in-house trainers, manager and guest speakers. At the end of the courses, a ceremony was held to award certificates to the participants by the CEO PVTC, Mohammad Saeed Khan.
He underscored the importance of refreshers to update their knowledge and acquire new skills and techniques in their respective fields to help improve their work performance.
A spokesman of PVTC told APP on Monday that the council has planned three more courses during the months of June and July, 2006. These include another one-week course on managerial competencies for principals and vice-principals, a week's course for teachers on pedagogical skills, and a 4-day course for admission and placement officers. He said PVTC currently has a network of 129 VTIs across the Punjab, and the number is expected to reach 400 by the end of 2007.
