Pakistan Muslim League (PML) has demanded implementation of devolution of power plan to cantonments and Federal Capital (FC) asking the government to hold local body elections to resolve civic problems of the people living in 54 cantonments and the federal capital.
People living in these areas are suffering as their problems are not being resolved properly, said Rizwan Sadiq Khan, President PML Islamabad while addressing a press conference here in Rawalpindi Press Club on Tuesday.
Rizwan Sadiq said that PML government has initiated development work in NA-48 and 49 of Islamabad capital. "We sent proposals to Prime Minister who approved the development projects worth Rs 8.43 billion for these areas", he added.
He rejected the claims of MMA MNA, Mian Aslam of launching development projects saying that no opposition leaders could do development work in his constituency without the consent of the government. "Our government approved these projects just for the people of Islamabad and not for any political party", he said.
He said that gas and electricity were supplied to rural areas of the capital, roads and streets were renovated, drinking water and sanitation system was streamlined. He said that all these projects were approved by the government, which were proposed by PML Islamabad.
"Prime Minister provided funds worth Rs 8.43 billion besides installation of 18 filtration plants", he said. The PML leader claimed that his party would emerge as single largest party of the country in next year general elections.
