The City District Government Lahore (CDGL), after consultation with representatives of traders and shopkeepers, has fixed prices of different pulses and red chillies in the wholesale and retail markets, besides notifying names of the officers authorised for checking prices in the city.
A meeting, held with District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood in the chair, on Thursday announced that the prices would be applicable with immediate effect.
According to a notification, the wholesale price of fine and standard quality gram pulses would be Rs 31 and 35 per kg, respectively and retail price would be Rs 34 and 38 per kg. Dal Masoor would be sold in the wholesale on Rs 37 and 41 per kg and its retail price would be Rs 41 and 45. Prices of Dal Mash (unwashed) in whole sale would be Rs 70 and 72 per kg while it would be sold at Rs 74 and 78 per kg in the retail market.
Dal Moong (washed) would be available at Rs 52 and 55 per kg in the wholesale while its consumer price would be Rs 57 and 60 per kg. Dal Moong (unwashed) would be sold at Rs 52 and 57 per keg respectively in the whole sale and at Rs 57 and 60 in the retail market. Wholesale price of red chillies would be Rs 50 and 55 rupees per kg while it would be sold at 55 and 60 per kg for the consumers.
The meeting also decided that the retailer shopkeepers would refrain from creating artificial price hike in the city and would be allowed to charge a maximum of 10 percent profit on their wholesale purchases. They would be bound to display price list prominently and co-operate with the CDGL authorities in keeping prices within the affordable range of the consumers.
For avoiding harassment to shopkeepers at the hands of unauthorised officials, District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood also notified the list of officers who would be ex-office empowered for checking price lists in the city. These officers include Town Municipal officers, Town Officers (Regulations), District Officer (Revenue), District Officer (Industry), DDOs (Revenue), Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Administrator Market Committee, and any other person nominated by the District Nazim or the DCO.
The meeting also decided to activate the District Price Control Committee and for holding its meeting regularly on monthly bases.
