Pehur Hydro Power Project, 18 Mega Watt, is likely to become operational by December 2007. The project would be completed with the total cost of Rs 862 million and expected to generate revenue of Rs 120 million annually.
This was disclosed during a briefing held here at Peshawar on Thursday with NWFP Minister for Education Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani in the chair. Authorities of SHYDO attended the meeting and briefed the minister about the project.
The provincial minister was further informed that NWFP has been bestowed with the rich natural hydel resources, which are being properly exploited/utilised for the revenue generation.
The minister while eulogising the performance of SHYDO hoped that various projects launched by SHYDO would help enhance the provincial revenue thus enabling the government to improve delivery of social services to the masses without any external support.
Keeping in view the importance of Pehur Hydro Power Project for the province, particularly for the socio-economic development of Swabi district, the provincial education minister assured all out support to the SHYDO authorities and directed for its completion within the stipulated period.
