Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has approved a special allowance equivalent to 50 percent basic pay to all doctors, nurses and paramedics and other staff working in the accident and emergency (Casualty) department of Federal Government Hospitals (FGHs).
This was announced here on Thursday by the Federal Health Minister Mohammad Nasir Khan. The hospitals have been facing serious problems in posting of qualified and efficient medical professionals and staff in the accident and emergency (Casualty) departments due to the arduous and sensitive nature of work in these departments.
These services operate 24 hours in three shifts. The Ministry of Health had, therefore, proposed to the Prime Minister grant of a special allowance of 50 percent of basic pay as an incentive to all those doctors and staff who perform duties on a full time basis in these departments.
