The CBR Chairman has assured that duties on the import of raw material for stainless steel and ceramics industries would be revised downward. Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI), President Ikhlaq Ahmad Butt expressed these views here on Friday, disclosed a GCCI' spokesman.
He said that Gujranwala is center of these industries and it was necessary industries, hence it was necessary for uplift of these industries to ensure availability of quality raw material on competitive rates.
Earlier a GCCI Delegation had met CBR Abdullah Yousaf to plead for reduction in duty on import of raw material for local industry that has to compete with the developed countries in the field of exports.
Meanwhile, the GCCI held a seminar to discuss various aspects of Federal Budget Estimates for the year 2006-2007. A former Collector of Sales Tax, Mohammad Daud masterfully presented analysis of the budget estimates. GCCI President said that anomalies emerging in the budget proposals would be reported to the government for removal of them. Seminar was attended by the GCCI office bearers, industrialists, traders and ITPs besides officers of Income tax and Sales tax departments.
