Chief Manager State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Multan, Akbar Ali has said that he would convey to the government the traders proposals regarding loans, and raising the withholding tax ceiling from Rs 25,000 to Rs 100,000.
Talking to a delegation of traders, industrialists and ginners here on Thursday, the chief manager SBP Multan said that the ministry of finance would be approached in this regard. He said that monopoly by a few banks has ended due to the government's deregulation policy, resulting in improved and competitive banking services.
"Dera Ghazi Khan has developed as a hub of business activity, that is why every bank wants to open a branch here," he observed. Business community representatives here contended that in order to meet the challenges of WTO regime, traders should be given loans amounting Rs 5 million without any mark-up.
