District Nazim Lahore Mian Amer Mahmood has directed the district revenue department officials for demolishing recently erected encroachments on Lahore Press Club (LPC) Housing Scheme land and handing over possession of remaining piece of land to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to finish the ongoing development works as per schedule.
He passed these directives while chairing a meeting to review the pace of developments works being carried out by LDA for laying water supply and trunk sewer, constructing roads and for building other physical infrastructure in the Lahore Press Club Housing Scheme at a cost of Rs 340 million.
Director General LDA Raja Muhammad Abbas, DCO Muhammad Ijaz, MD Wasa Anam Qadir, Chief Engineer Tepa Khushhal Khan, Chief Engineer LDA Asif Hameed Khan, Lahore Press Club President Arshed Ansari and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
Mian Amer Mahmood directed for posting revenue department staff at the site besides activating the officials of police picket, especially set up there, with a view to protecting this precious land from grabbers and encroachers. He further directed for pursuing the sub-judicious cases regularly for their early disposal.
The meeting decided to allocate a 35 kanal piece of land to Lesco for construction of a grid station in the area for ensuring power supply to the residents of the scheme. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Company had already been released an amount of Rs 11 million for laying its supply lines in the scheme.
The meeting was informed that out of the total area of 1,490 kanal of the scheme, residential plots were being prepared on 715 kanals, while 418 kanals would be utilised for construction of roads and parking lots, 133 kanals would be converted into lake and parks, commercial area of the scheme would be spread over 33 kanals and 30 kanals had been earmarked for graveyard.
The meeting was further told that an amount of Rs 90 million was being spent for construction of roads, Rs 150 million for water supply and sewerage system, Rs 90 million for installation of electricity polls and high-tension wires and Rs 3 million for planting horticulture in the scheme.
Mian Amer Mahmood directed all concerned officials for putting their best foot forward for ensuring best civic amenities in the residential colony for journalists.
