Sales tax collection on pesticide ingredients at import stage

On 76 active ingredients of all pesticides, whether manufactured locally or imported, sales tax will be collected at import stage on fixed value-addition of 15 percent. Thereafter, no further sales tax shall be levied or charged on any stage of pesticides local supply.
The Board has superseded SRO 553(I)/2006 through SRO 645(I)/2006 issued on Wednesday to address the issue of sales tax on pesticides. According to the new notification, after payment of sales tax with 15 percent value-addition at import stage, no manufacturer/wholesaler/dealer/retailer of pesticides shall charge any amount of sales tax on local supply.
The CBR has issued following list of active ingredients of pesticides, stabilisers, emulsifiers and solvents for the calculation of sales tax on the basis of 15 percent fixed value-addition:
