A two-day training course for surgical industry was successfully completed at Rachna College of Engineering & Technology, Gujranwala. The course was initiated under the directives of Punjab Governor Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) to keep the surgical industry abreast of the latest technologies.
The course was organised jointly by Surgical Instrument Manufacturers Association of Pakistan, Sialkot, University of Engineering & Technology Lahore and Rachna College of Engineering & Technology Gujranwala.
The topics were 'reasons of corrosion, its prevention, material selection and its importance in surgical industry'. Forty-two participants from surgical industry participated in the training. Professors of Metallurgy Department of UET Lahore delivered lectures. The attendees gained extensive information on these critical issues through presentations and practical demonstrations.
Surgical Association Chairman Naeem Anwar Qureshi, who was present on the occasion, said that with this course, a foundation had been laid for establishment of a permanent faculty of surgical instruments. He added that long courses for surgical industry would also be offered in future and in this regard, matters were being finalised. Certificates among the participants were distributed after the completion of course.
