Opposition leaders in Sindh Assembly on Thursday expressed strong resentment on Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah's "unsatisfying action" against the minority MPA from treasury benches, besides suspending four Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPAs for two days and threatened to bring "no confidence motion" against the Speaker.
"Muzaffar Hussain Shah's attitude towards the opposition is biased and partial since 2002 as he never dealt opposition MPAs with equality. "His conduct is compelling us to bring no confidence motion against him," opposition leaders Nisar Khuhro, Maulana Umer Sadiq and Syed Qaim Ali Shah told newsmen at leader of the opposition's chamber after the session.
Minority MPA of PML-Q was suspended by the Speaker for whole budget session for sending an indecent message to a PPP MPA Shazia Marri on a chit on Wednesday, while PPP MPAs Murad Ali Shah, Nawaz Chandio, Saleem Hingoro and Munawar Abbasi for thrashing him in the House.
Leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro strongly condemned the suspension of four PPP MPAs, and alleged that the Speaker's attitude was biased towards the opposition since 2002 as he took no notice of injustices against them, even inside the Assembly premises.
"We have not forgotten what police did with our brother Younus Khan, when he was taken away by the police personnel from the assembly building. "The Speaker took no action although police could not enter the assembly premises without his permission," he added.
He said Maulana Umer Sadiq was also manhandled and subjected to violence by police. When he attended the session with his clothes in tatters and drew the attention of the Speaker towards maltreatment of police, even then the Speaker took no action on his complaint, he said.
Nisar Khuhro said another PPP MPA Zahid Bhurgari was put behind the bars illegally by the government, but even then the Speaker took no action despite drawing his attention towards injustices against opposition, saying all these incidents compelled the opposition to adopt what deemed fit to them.
According to him, seat allotted to MPA Eshwar Lal in the Sindh Assembly was 124, but instead he used to sit behind the lady MPAs of PPP, and teasing and taunting them for the last two years. "We brought the incidents of teasing MPAs Sessi Palijo and Kulsoom Nizamani in the notice of the Speaker, but he again took no action.
Condemning the Speaker's ruling for suspending membership of Eshwar Lal for the budget session, he said he should have been suspended for the rest of the year, while there was no justification for suspending four PPP MPAs.
Sindh PPP President Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) Parliamentary Party leader in Sindh Assembly Maulana Umer Sadiq have also condemned the Speaker's ruling, and demanded of the government to take resignation of MPA Eshwar Lal. "All our four members will come on Friday in the House to attend the session as we don't accept the Speaker's ruling," they vowed.
