Arabica coffee futures edged up Thursday, bolstered by independent brokers covering their short positions and a late spurt of buy orders from speculators and trade, market sources said.
The New York Board of Trade's active September coffee contract gained 0.40 cent to settle at 97.10 cents a lb, after trading from 96.30 cents to 97.50 cents. The bottom trade was the weakest for the contract since September 2005.
