Around 500 canal watercourses would be cemented across Sindh during the next financial in a bid increase production and ensure judicious usage of water, Chief Minister Sindh, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said on Tuesday. Talking to PTV he said a separate project for cementing watercourses across the province was continuing also with the assistance of federal government.
Sizable funds have been allocated for introducing various technologies including laser levellers, sprinkle, and drip irrigation system in the province. Desalination plants are being established in the province or purifying underground water.
He said storage facilities would be provided to small farmers in various fruit and vegetable markets for ensuring reasonable price of their products. Seed corporation has been reactivated aiming to introduce efficient variety of seeds.
Efficient officials have been deployed in irrigation department for eliminating water theft and ensuring sufficient supply to tale end. Plan has been finalised for establishing Export Processing zones at various far flung areas of the province.
Different sugar mill owners have been warned not to hold more than 25 percent of their products. This single step has greatly helped in bringing the soaring prices at downward slide.
