Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) is shortly introducing a pilot project to start capital intensive trade in three of its vocational training institutes in the provincial network.
The respective boards of management have given a green signal for this significant technological up gradation for the new trades in the VTI's which are located in Lahore, Bilayanwala Khooh and Jaranwala.
A spokesman of PVTC said here that Computerised Numeric Controlled (CNC) machines are to be added to the manual Lathe Machine for the machinist course of the VTI Green Town.
A satellite VTI of the Green Town located at Bilayanwala near Lahore is to launch an advanced tractor mechanics course for which necessary equipment is being acquired. VTI Jaranwala near Faisalabad is developing Textile weaving lab for the textile weaving trade within its own premises.
The VTI has been collaborating with a reputable textile group for the practical training in the past. It has now entered into arrangements with Be Be Jan Fibres (Pvt) Ltd, for its practical training and is acquiring equipment like 'Under Pick Loom with shuttle having width of 56 inches' for installation in the VTI for in house training facilities, he added.
All the technological advancements are part of the expansion and growth plan of PVTC set up by the Punjab Government as part of its poverty alleviation programme. The programme has been fully supported by the Punjab Zakat Council and its Chairman former Judge, Haji Muhammad Akram Bitto through its MORA stipends for the trainees consisting of mushtakeen-e-zakat, the PVTC spokesman added.
