'Government striving to enhance literacy rate'

Minister for Education Javed Ashraf Qazi has said that government is striving to achieve the targets of literacy rate and quality education. In an interview to a private television channel, he said the education budget at all the levels had been enhanced manifold during the past few years and the new universities were being established.
He said the higher education budget was now Rs 32 billion as against Rs three billion in the past. Javed Ashraf Qazi said that the government was taking all possible steps to ensure enrolment of all the children in schools.
