The revenue collection for 2005-06 has crossed Rs 709 billion against the target of Rs 690 billion, reflecting an increase of over Rs 19 billion.
Sources told Business Recorder that the collection was likely to exceed Rs 710 billion in the coming days. The last instalment of 'advance tax' for quarter ending June 2006 would also be instrumental in the increase in the revenue.
According to the latest figures, compiled on Monday, the CBR has collected over Rs 709 billion during 2005-06 against Rs 588.1 billion of 2004-05, showing an increase of Rs 120.9 billion.
The updated collection in June, 2006 was Rs 98.6 billion against Rs 87.362 billion in June 2005, depicting an increase of Rs 11.238 billion in one month.
According to tax-wise details, direct tax collection is Rs 220 billion against Rs 183.4 billion in 2005, showing an increase of Rs 36.6 billion.
Sales tax collection is Rs 293 billion against Rs 238.5 billion collected last year, showing a growth of Rs 54.5 billion. The collection of customs duty has reached Rs 138 billion in 2005-06) against Rs 115.4 billion of 2005, indicating a growth of Rs 22.6 billion.
The collection of federal excise duty (FED) is Rs 58 billion against Rs 52.90 billion of last year, showing an increase of Rs 5.1 billion.
