Chief of Pakistan Air Force Air Chief Marshal, Tanveer Mahmood has said that the supply of F-16s to Pakistan would considerably enhance its defence capabilities. Talking to a private TV Channel he said the agreement to supply the jets was reached in 1980 but due to Pressler Amendment, the agreement could not be implemented.
He added PAF was lagging behind in technology but provision of new jets would improve its technicalities. To a question the PAF Chief said that the supply of fighter jets would help maintain power balance in the region. He said PAF is fully capable to meet future changes, as role of Air Force will be vital in future.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Talat Masood (Retd) said that the supply of F-16 to PAF would enhance its professional ability because it contains new model of F-16 and the old model planes are also fully equipped with new latest system.
