Lahore High Court Multan bench has taken very serious view into the delaying inquiries into the corruption of serious nature and directed Additional Advocate General to communicate additional director, anti-corruption establishment to produce the entire record of complaint before the court by July 10.
The LHC bench judge, Justice Tariq Shamim, issued orders on the petition filed by a citizen Ghazi Ahmed Hassan Khokhar, who is also Chairman of Punjab Labour Alliance (PLA), regarding the granting permission to sell substandard, adulterated and expired pesticides in the market. The petitioner held Multan Pesticides & Control Laboratory officers responsible for harming the country's agricultural economy.
Earlier, the petitioner submitted that he had lodged complaints with ACE with solid and documented proofs of corruption against Multan pesticides and control laboratory incharge Dr Ehsanul Haq Mehmood and Faisalabad director plant protection institute director Dr Ahmed Salim Akhtar.
The petitioner made respondent to additional director anti-corruption establishment Multan region, Multan pesticide quality control laboratory ex-incharge and Sahiwal district officer soil and water testing laboratory Dr Ehsanul Haq Mehmood, Faisalabad Punjab director plant protection Dr Ahmed Saleem Akhtar, Faisalabad Hamdard chemist institute researcher Muhammad Siddique and Multan pesticides quality control laboratory assistant chemist Muhammad Ishfaq Ahmed Rahi.
The petitioner said the matter was pending with ACE when the officials started taking action against him and other employees, even they were threatened of facing dire consequences, including removal from service for lodging complaint.
The copies of complaints were sent to the Punjab chief minister, who took quick action and transferred both the officials from their respective stations and departments.
The ACE did not initiate any probe into the matter and his complaints were facing continuous delay and lack of address, which provided opportunities to the officials for retaliation against him.
LHC judge Tariq Shamim has directed Additional Advocate General Malik Khalid let record of the case be requisitioned from the respondent No 1 for July 10.
The judge also directed the AAG to communicate the orders of this court to the said respondent for compliance and also render assistance on the said date.
