Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao on Wednesday inaugurated Rs 336 million project for widening the Murree Road from Faizabad to Serena Hotel. On this occasion, the Federal Minister said that the government has decided to make Islamabad a model city by launching a number of new development projects in different sectors.
Sherpao claimed that there had been significant development in Islamabad after the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz decision's to allow the CDA to itself generate financial resources. He substantiated his words saying that the increase in CDA's budget within last three years is far more than that of last twenty years.
The Minister sought devotion and commitment from the CDA officials and contractors, who are involved in executing the projects. He was of the view that the CDA should hire a consultant for every project costing above Rs 100 million, who should keep a check on the particular project.
Sherpao said that the CDA has also planned for widening the approach road to the dumping site near Kuri village that would cost Rs 77 million adding that the waste plant would be constructed according to international standards to avoid any environmental hazards.
The Federal Minister also announced an increase in the salary of the CDA employees working on daily wages saying that they would now receive Rs 4,500 per month instead of current Rs 3000.
He also talked about the Ankara Park, which was established in memory of two Turkish engineers, who died during relief activities in the earthquake affected area. He also announced for the establishment of a monument in the park to forever remember their services for Pakistan.
Later, talking to reporters on the opposition's movement to be launched against the government, he claimed that the opposition parties were not united on a single agenda as their statements badly expose their differences.
