The district government of Sialkot has chalked out a foolproof flood protection plan to cope with any eventuality during the monsoon season. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Wednesday that Sialkot district had been divided into 18 sectors and 35 sub-sectors while 31 relief camps had also been established in the district.
He said relief centres had been set up in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur districts. In addition, protective bunds of seasonal nullahs had been repaired for protecting the Sialkot city and its adjoining areas, he added.
Sources revealed that the district flood control centre had also been set up, which will be functioning round the clock. The concerned staff was vigilantly monitoring all seasonal nullahs and river Chanab passing through the district, sources added.
Meanwhile, socio-political circles had stressed the need of carrying immediate cleanliness of seasonal nullahs for ensuring smooth flow of the water.
