The Lahore High Court (LHC), while allowing an appeal of former Punjab Chief Minster Main Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, has set aside the decision of an accountability court, which turned down his plea of acquitting him in a reference.
The accused, who was facing the charge of misuse of Bait-ul-Mal funds, had prayed to the court to acquit him from the charges leveled against him in a reference.
The petitioner contended before the LHC that the respondent accountability court passed these orders without giving him opportunity of hearing. He said that he awarded funds to the deserving institutions and people in accordance with the law. He said that the charges of misuse of funds are baseless and against the facts.
The court, after hearing the applicant counsel at length, allowed the petition and set aside the decision of the respondent court.
