Dryness in the western US Midwest crop region will continue to stress corn and soyabean crops, a private forecaster said on Thursday. "If the forecast behaves as expected, there are no significant concerns for heat," Meteorlogix Weather Service forecaster Joel Burgio said. "Now rainfall is still an issue and it could be stressing the crop."
Burgio said that some anticipated rainfall over the weekend in the western region could either move south and disintegrate, or move east and give the eastern Corn Belt more rain than it expects.
In the meantime, the US and European forecasting models are in agreement early Thursday.
The western Corn Belt on Thursday will be dry through Saturday, with a chance of rain late Saturday evening.
Temperatures are expected to be near-normal to below-normal on Thursday. Near-normal to above-normal temperatures were expected on Friday and Saturday, with highs in the mid-80s to mid-90s degrees Fahrenheit.
