The Council of Complaints (CoC) of the Pakistan Electric Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra), in its 20th meeting here on Thursday, imposed fine on the cable operators relaying banned channels in Punjab. According to a press release, complaints from general public were heard in presence of defendants before imposing the fine.
Appeals from seven cable operators were also listened, out of which two were rejected while an amount of fine was reduced in five appeals. Besides ordering enquiries into complaints lodged by subscribers, Pemra has warned strict action against the cable operators who were found involved in violation of rules and regulations. The meeting also approved minutes of the previous meeting.
Those attended the meeting included Mian Shafqat, all member CoC, Pemra Punjab, Kamal uddin Tipu, regional general manager, CoC Pemra Punjab, Khurshid Siddiqui, assistant general manager, CoC Pemra Punjab, Ikram Barkat, assistant general manager, CoC Pemra Punjab and others.
