The Karachi Port handled 103,501 tonnes of cargo including 79,679 tonnes import, 23,822 tonnes export cargo and 3,191 containers during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Saturday.
The cargo comprised of 62,082 tonnes dry cargo including 37,650 tonnes general cargo; 5,092 tonnes sugar; 2,510 tonnes fertiliser; 1,441 tonnes rice; 7,800 tonnes coal; 944 tonnes scrap; 6,645 tonnes rock phosphate and 41,419 tonnes oil/Liquid cargo.
Nine ships namely Corinthiakos, Ltc Calvin P Titus, Nicolas S, Leopard, Thor Energy, Ashraf Bay, Antonis, MT Johar and Alycia sailed out to sea during the report period.
Four vessels viz Mastro Giorgis II, Oel Aishwarya, Sea Rose and Leopard are currently at the berths. Three ships namely Sinar Bontang, Iran Selar and Capetan Lefteris expected to sail on Saturday.
Three vessels viz MT Lalazar, Vlasimir Kokkinaka and Plemonte due to arrive on Saturday, while five ships namely Oriental Protea, Bun Chin, CMA CGM Simba, Mearsk Alabama and Lai King are due to arrive on Sunday. Five ships namely Kota Teraju, Bunga De3lima, Mol Kauri, Tai Harmony and Orionis are due to arrive on Monday.
The cargo comprised of 40,125 tonnes furnace oil; 8,653 tonnes sugar; 3,054 tonnes rice; 8,877 tonnes iron ore; 11,392 tonnes chemicals and 3,451 tonnes containerised cargo.
Two ships namely CV Mega-1 and MT Vema Ocean sailed out to sea during report period, while two more ships namely MV Loch Lomond and MT Liquid Success are expected to sail on Saturday. A total of four vessels viz Khairpur, Yanaseni, Ottawa and Marblue are currently at the outer anchorage. Four ships namely CV MSC Natalia, CV Oel Aishwarya MT Yanaseni and MT Ottawa due to take berths on Saturday.
Four vessels viz MV Scan Bothina, MT Suzanne, MV Alabanda and MT Al-Maqwa with seeds, chemicals, diesel oil and general cargo due to arrive on Saturday, while four more ships namely CV Asian Trader, CV MSC Socotra, MT Stolt Nanami and MV Trinity with containers, edible oil and iron ore are due to arrive on Sunday.
PORT QASIM WEEKLY OPERATIONAL ACTIVITY A total cargo volume of 489,831 tonnes comprising 387,491 tonnes import and 102,340 tonnes export cargo was handled during last week ending on Friday, 7th July 2006.
The cargo comprised of 185,680 tonnes furnace oil; 50,420 tonnes diesel oil; 31,791 tonnes edible oil; 4,210 tonnes chemicals; 12,203 tonnes sugar; 11,200 tonnes wheat and 194,327 tonnes containerised cargo. A total of twenty-one ships took berths to load/offload the above cargoes, while twenty-two vessels sailed out to sea during the reporting week.
