The rupee trimmed some weakness versus the dollar in the open market, gaining three paisa for buying and selling at 60.55 and 60.60, respectively. Some dealers said that due to international market closer, activity was low and supply was enough to fulfil the requirements.
The dollar did not show any improvement versus the leading currencies in the world markets owing to weaker-than-expected US report, they said.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee gained three paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at 60.55 and 60.60 due to thin business, they added. The rupee, however, shed three paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 77.19 and Rs 77.29, as the single European currency held its firmness versus the global currency units, dealers said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee maintained downward trend and further lost its value by five-paisa in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Saturday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar's trading commenced at overnight closing rates of Rs 60.70 and Rs 60.80 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. As a result of marginal increase in dollar's demand, its rate moved up and closed at Rs 60.75 and Rs 60.85 on buying and selling sides, respectively, the dealers added.
Likewise, the local currency remained under pressure and further declined its worth against the pound sterling. The pound's buying rate improved from Friday's closing rate of Rs 111.30 to Rs 111.80 while selling rate closed higher from Rs 111.60 to Rs 112.10, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee remained firm against the dollar in the local kerb markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.60 (buying) and Rs 60.70 (selling) against the overnight value. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 60.60 (buying) and Rs 60.70 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 111.40 (buying) and Rs 111.60 (selling) against the overnight value. It did not observe any further change by the end of second session and closed at Rs 111.40 (buying) and Rs 111.60 (selling).
