'No association authorised to fix CNG prices'

The federal government has not authorised any association, including Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), to fix CNG prices. The fixation of price by so-called CNG association in different parts of the country have no any legal cover and obligation, said All Pakistan CNG Association (APCA) Central Chairman Tariq Kandan, who is also the chairman of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry's standing committee on CNG.
He was presiding over an emergency meeting of the Association in its Rawalpindi-based head office here.
The meeting was attended by APCA (Rawalpindi/Islamabad zone) Chairman Abid Hayyat, APCA (Lahore zone) Chairman Sana-ur-Rehman, APCA (Karachi zone) Chairman Junaid Ismail Makda, APCA Peshawar Zone Chairman Javed Anwar, APCA Muzaffarabad Zone Chairman Saifullah Sabir, Abbotabad Zone Chairman Khalid Latif, provincial heads of APCA and member of CEC Raja Abid Iqbal.
The meeting took strong exception to the wilful price raise of CNG announced by the 'so-called and illegal associations'.
The meeting clarified that it had announced Rs 3.87 raise in CNG prices last week with a view to fixing the limits not to be crossed by CNG owners.
Tariq Kandaan said the All Pakistan CNG Association was the only registered association with the government representing CNG industry from all the four provinces. The meeting told APCA members that it was their own liability to fix CNG prices according to the cost.
The meeting, however, clarified that the raise in CNG prices must not be crossed the limits fixed by the APCA.
