City Naib Nazim, Nasreen Jalil has said that work on cementing 400 watercourses is underway in rural areas of Gadap Town at a cost of Rs120 million and so far work on 300 water courses has been completed.
Talking to the Nazim Gadap Town, Ghulam Murtaza Baloch in her office, she said one 140,000 acres land will be cultivated after completion of this project.
Nasreen further said that work has also been initiated for establishment of a recreational spot on 100 acres area near Thado Dam and already 55,000 saplings had been planted at the site.
She said that present Local Government has a vision to provide same facilities to the Goths and undeveloped parts of the city as are available to the posh areas.
"This is the reason that City Nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal decided to make "Goth Infrastructure Fund" for which initially Rs 200 million have been allocated in the budget 2006-07," the Naib Nazim pointed out and added that if there is need addition will be made in this fund.
She said more small dams are being constructed in Gadap Town while the work on building water tanks has also been resumed by the present City Government.
Nasreen said that Town Nazims should get the development works completed, which had been initiated by the UC Nazims so that more facilities could be provided to the people.
UC Nazims, Ahsan Siddiqui, Asif Siddiqui, Sher Afgan, Arif Bhati and Syed Abu Talib were also present on the occasion.
