Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has adopted every possible measures following the instructions of the AJK Chief Election Commissioner to ensure implementation of Election rules and code of conduct to hold free, fair and impartial upcoming July 11 elections.
This was stated by the AJK Election Commissioner while talking to APP here.
The Election Commissioner said under the instruction of Chief Election Commissioner, Chief Justice AJK High Court Justice Riaz Akhtar Chaudhry, complete guidelines have been provided for the candidates and their supporters, the voters, the Election Commission staff conducting the electoral process.
He said if any candidate or his representative is found to bribe or intimidate the voters to vote for them would be dealt as the violator of election rules.
He said any person found proving his/her wrong identity in place of the actual voter to the staff on duty to cast fake vote would be dealt according to the election rules.
According to the code of conduct, the political parties and other independent candidates have been prohibited to show of weapons or aerial firing, holding big public rallies, displaying of big posters, banners, wall chalking and use of loud speakers.
He added that Returning Officers are responsible to make sure that flags of any candidate or party are not displayed on the vehicles, poles and also to check that loud speakers were not used on the vehicles.
Showing of original national identity card and to present copy of the card to the presiding officer is must to prove that the actual voter was casting the vote otherwise the presiding officer will not issue ballot paper to the voter.
However, those who do not have the ID cards they can prove their identity by showing any original document like passport, driving license, State Subject certificate with a copy of the presented document to the concerned presiding officer.
