The British Deputy High Commissioner Hamesh Daniel has said the British Council is promoting richness and diversity of relation between Pakistan and Britain. He stated this while addressing a ceremony to mark shifting of British Council from Bleak House to its new premises at Shahrae Iran, Clifton.
He said that due to security concerns after September 11, the British Council was closed for public and it has now shifted close to the British High Commission.
The challenge to bring people together was the British Council's prime focus. He congratulated the staff members of the British Council who made it possible to shift to the new premises.
Sindh Minister for Education & Literacy, Hamida Khuhro said the British Council was providing several services to the city. It has worked a lot to project honour killing as a menace, she added.
She said that her government has introduced English language in all classes because rising demand in several fields made it compulsory to learn it. The purpose for the language is to give the youth of the country an opportunity to explore themselves world-wide, she said.
Other speakers also spoke about the British Council achievements in various fields: art programmes, education, exams services, management development services, programmes for the youth.
